Back from the Secondlife Convention!

Yay, I made it back from the SLCC 2007! Had a good time, and got to meet a lot of great folks. Even got to play a little with some other musicians and noodle around on the piano. Still, it's good to be back.

A blast from the past

When I was about 16, Frogg, my sister, and I produced three half hour sketch comedy shows for our local Cable Access station. My sister was taking a high school film class, and the assignment was to create such a program. Being techy, I jumped at the opportunity to help, and Frogg had been doing a lot of theater work, so he was interested too. At the time, my sister was heavily into daytime television, too, and so we ended up doing TV commercial parodies. My family had this large gray rabbit, a giant chinchilla, so we called the program "Advertising the Rabbit Hutch Way". We got to use the recording equipment and mixing station for free, since it was public access.

Anyway, we enjoyed doing it so much, we wrote two more shows as well. The quality got progressively better.

Where am I going with all of this? Well, last night I uploaded the videos to Google Video, and so here are the links, if you'd like to see Frogg, me, and my sister in all our teenage glory, hehe.

We planned to do a fourth show, but by that point our schedules were too different to all get together for filming. We ended up with one skit, not even edited, which I can't find at the moment, for "Life Time Books", a home improvement series for people not willing to do home improvements. One segment had Frogg hammering in a nail, with the comment "Well, I just got the first nail in, and it's a perfect fit!", and another segment where he says "Notice anything different about this room? I took that clock off the shelf over there, and put it on top of the TV! Thanks to Life Time books!"

Charlieeee!

If you've listened to our shows, you know that Frogg and I do a medley of songs that ends in a Charlie The Unicorn tribute. Have a listen here for the Charlie part, if you don't know what I'm talking about. Anyway, I recently contacted the creator of Charlie, to let him hear the song and see what he thought. He was impressed! Impressed enough to even talk about it on his blog! And look at the comments from others too... Wow! I am amazed it was so well received!

Anyway, I just had to write and mention it here for you all, too. We'll be playing the Charlie medley at the SLCC in Chicago later this month, so you'll get to hear it in person there, if you're able to go!

Hooray for Company (part 3)!

I know it's been forever for this post, but I have some other things I want to report about too, and I don't want to forget stuff I should have been writing about earlier.

When we last left Frogg and Jaycatt, Rosa had left to visit Patrick up in Seattle, and Meg was visiting for another week or so. I really enjoyed Meg's company, mostly because she's an interesting, caring person, but also because she was British and I find British culture fascinating. I also find the food fascinating, and even though Meg is a vegetarian, the dishes she made were quite nice :) One night she made a shrimp curry. Another, shepherd's pie (which I have an absolute passion for). Also, I remember a noodle dish that was excellent too.

Frogg and Meg mostly did things themselves, because I was back at work, but we did watch some movies together, which I think is always fun.

I really miss having Rosa here though :( It's funny how after a week of having someone visit, you almost take for granted that they'll be there, you know? So after they go, I found myself saying "Oh, that's right..." when I'd think of things I would have normally done when she was here. :) BUT, I get to see her again in a couple of weeks, in Chicago! Woo hoo! That'll really be a treat... Both of us visiting, but also both of us in a new place!

The house seems kind of empty now that it's just Frogg and I again. We've been hanging out more ourselves, though, and now when we visit Meg online we can include my partner Xankarth too, which I really missed being able to do. :)

Anyway, I really enjoyed having the company over. And I hope Rosa and Meg are able to visit again some day! Rosa might even get to visit in March, and I'm hoping to get to show her the Oregon coast, which we missed out on this last time around!
