Update from me!

Yeah, it's been a while since I posted in my blog. Let me see what's been happening to keep you up to date!

Xankarth has been building a fire lookout for me, and it's really looking cool so far! A decade or so ago, Frogg and I stayed in a fire lookout (and later did it again along with another friend) and really enjoyed ourselves, both times! In the pacific northwest here, there are old fire lookouts that are available for rent, for just $40 a night usually. They don't have water, and normally don't even have electric or flush toilets, but they are normally in places with amazing views. You really feel remote, and get to see all the weather and stars your poor eyes can stand. Anyway, I've always thought it would be neat to have one in Secondlife, and have Xankarth to thank for working on one for me! Eventually it will be a nifty place to hang out, with it's own wonderful views :)

Xan has also convinced me to get an MMO called Guild Wars, which I am really excited about playing! There's no monthly fee, so I don't have to feel guilty for paying for something I don't have a lot of time to play. It will be fun getting back into an actual game for a change! Xan is already experienced with it, and another friend Chaz will also be able to join us... Should be fun! I got a little preview of it last night and I can't wait to get in to mess around :D

It's getting closer to the Rocky Mountain FurCon, and I'm eager to get there to visit! My good friend Gog will be joining me there, and also my friend Kain may be joining us as well! The more the merrier, I think... I don't know a lot of furs, and so to have a few familiar faces (so to speak) will really help me feel comfortable. Today I bought a hard-sided keyboard case, so I can bring along my little cheapy 61 key keyboard to play, hopefully for Michi and the Luskwood crew too! I've never traveled with a keyboard before, but this one is fairly small, and pretty cheap in case anything happens to it :D

Speaking of traveling with keyboards, this Sunday Frogg and I are driving to Portland with our gear, to play at a pub up there as part of a podcast interview run by RoseDrop Rust! I haven't had a lot of opportunity to play in public, and I hear that quite a few SL users will be attending, so that will just be a load of fun I'll bet... :D How exciting! We also get to meet Carter and Gillian, two SL users who we will be playing a fairly regular Saturday show for on Heron Island sim starting in May :)

Oh! And plans for my good friend Rosa to visit in July are finally cemented! It's really happening! She will arrive on July 3rd and be leaving on the 10th. I'm really excited to get to finally meet her, we are such good friends... It's difficult not to start planning now, and overplan like I usually do! I want to make sure it's a nice relaxing trip without any stress trying to squeeze too much activity into too short a time, hehe.

Well, that's about all from me for now.. Hope you all are doing well!

Great show last night!

Hey there blog readers :D Well, I got to play a solo show last night for an hour, and it went extremely well... Didn't even have to play all my material! I got a "new" song now, though, courtesy of a suggestion by Shady Fox. At the beginning of the show I was just noodling around, and Shady suggested I play Chopsticks. I Catt-ized it (my new word for the day!) and so now I have a version of Chopsticks, which I am now calling the Shady song, hehe. It's still a bit rough, and will get more complex the more I play it, but for now, you can have a listen here!

I thought I did really well, though, and it was fun to play solo. I don't like to do it very often, maybe just once a month, but it's kind of fun. Today, Frogg has a solo show of his own too! I think it's good we keep in practice that way too, but I much prefer playing duets... It just sounds richer with multiple instruments, and it feels like we're painting a picture together. Normally I'm quite pleased with the result, but unlike a picture, it fades from your memory until you can only recall if it was good or bad. Luckily, we record most all our shows, so I can always have another listen. But it's just not the same as when you're playing it, knowing if you add a dab of bass there, or a touch of treble there, you can bring warmth and dimension to a piece of music. Wow, got waxing kind of poetic there for a moment! :D

Hope you all are having a great day, and hope you like the little Chopsticks version!

Update!

Hey ya, blog readers! Just thought I'd provide an update, since it's been a little while since I did.

Well, we started our first week of the booked month on Sunday, doing a concert for a birthday party, which was a lot of fun! Then, last night, we had another two hour show too. Now there's a reprieve until Friday, when we do yet another two hour show! Fortunately, most of the remaining shows in April are only an hour, and those are a lot more fun I think. Mainly because I still get time to do other things (hehe). It's surprising that April is already all booked, wow.

In other news, this Saturday should be fun... Frogg is part of a puppet theater thingy called "Drunk Puppet Night". It was such a blast last year, that I'm going again (this time with my sister!) To see Frogg's part in last year's show, click here! I'll be filming Frogg's bit again this year, and hope to show it off some time in SL :D

Not a whole lot else going on, really, except working and trying to find free time. :)
